Mad Anthonys Foundation Names Jim Marcuccilli and Tom Marcuccilli 2024 Red Coat Recipients
Jan. 17, 2024, FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Mad Anthonys Foundation has named Jim Marcuccilli and Tom Marcuccilli of Fort Wayne-based STAR Financial Group, Inc., its 2024 Red Coat recipients.
“We’re thrilled to recognize Jim and Tom as Red Coat recipients this year,” said Sherri Miller, Mad Anthonys Board President. “They have both played a key role in driving STAR Bank’s exceptional corporate citizenship over the years. We’re thankful for their leadership making our community, our city and our region an outstanding place to call home.”
STAR Financial Group, Inc., the parent company of STAR Financial Bank, is an Indiana-based community bank known for its culture of delivering quality service, personalized banking solutions and innovative use of technology. In addition, STAR Wealth Management offers licensed professional services in financial planning, trust and asset management. STAR Financial Group has grown to $3.11 billion in assets with 36 locations in central and northeast Indiana.
The Marcuccilli family’s ownership and operation, along with their local ties, have consistently proven to be valuable assets for STAR’s growth and leadership. The original four founding members—Selah Wright, Thomas Marcuccilli, Arthur Hodson and Ralph Marcuccilli—opened the first STAR bank in 1943 in Upland, Indiana, with the name “STAR” deriving from the first letter of each founder’s first name.
Over the years, Jim Marcuccilli has served as the United Way of Allen County Campaign Chairman and on several boards throughout the region. He currently serves on the board of directors for the Indiana State Chamber, Steel Dynamics Inc., the University of Notre Dame Science Advisory, Junior Achievement Foundation, IU Health Foundation, SDI Foundation and YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne. He was a founding member of the Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership in 2006, served as Northeast Indiana American Heart Association Gala Chairman in 2017 and as Chairman of the Indiana Bankers Association in 2013. He is also a two-time Sagamore of the Wabash recipient and a member of the 2014 Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame.
“I am deeply grateful for this honor, recognizing my commitment to community service and board leadership,” said Jim Marcuccilli. “This award underscores the powerful impact that collaboration and a shared vision can have on shaping a better future. It is a testament to the strength of our community and the privilege of contributing to its growth and prosperity.”
Tom Marcuccilli has served the community diligently, giving his time and expertise to committees and boards that are dedicated to strengthening northeast Indiana’s regional communities. These organizations include The Embassy Theater, Arts United, Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion-Grant County Chamber of Commerce, Marion Aero Club, YMCA of Grant County, Marion Philharmonic Orchestra, St. Paul/Bennett School in Marion and the former Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance.
“I sincerely appreciate the Mad Anthonys Foundation for this distinction,” said Tom Marcuccilli. “The Red Coat celebration underscores the profound impact of sharing time, talent and treasure to shape a more promising future for our region. I believe our community is resilient thanks to our region’s businesses and leaders. It’s an honor to contribute to our community’s ongoing success.”
Jim Marcuccilli and Tom Marcuccilli will be honored at the Red Coat Gala, which will be held on May 18, 2024, at the Clyde Theater in Fort Wayne.
